Description
Purpose: Audio-Digest Foundation CME/CE activities are designed to provide its learners - physicians and other healthcare professionals - with continuing education that will help identify clinical problems in their practice settings, provide content to help to solve those problems, and increase their application of knowledge to practice.
Audio-Digest Psychiatry is specifically designed to provide the participant with useful and up-to-date information on accurate diagnosis and appropriate management in all types of psychiatric disorders, including, but not limited to:
Anxiety disorders
Dementia, delirium, amnesia, and other cognitive disorders
Geriatric psychiatry
Mental disorders in childhood and adolescence
Mood disorders
Multiaxial illnesses
Personality disorders
Schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders
Sexual disorders and paraphilias
Sleep disorders
Substance-related disorders
The goal of this program is to improve the recognition and clinical management of depression in older adults. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to:
1: Describe etiologies of depression unique to older adults.
2: Identify behavioral changes and risk factors associated with the development of depression in older adults.
3: Distinguish cognitive changes associated with depression from those associated with dementia.
4: Treat depression, and prevent complications of depression in patients in long-term care or skilled nursing facilities.
5: Augment existing depression treatments to address resistant symptoms.
