The goal of this program is to improve the management of Barrett esophagus (BE). After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to:

1: Recommend the use of proton pump inhibitors to treat BE.

2: Perform adequate esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) surveillance and staging.

3: Utilize endoscopic mucosal resection as a diagnostic and therapeutic tool for high-grade dysplasia (HGD) in the esophagus.

4: Recognize the indications for surgery in HGD.

5: Choose the appropriate surgical approach for treatment of esophageal carcinoma.
