The goal of this program is to improve the management of refractory ascites and the evaluation of patients for liver transplantation (LT). After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to:
1: Use appropriate routine and advanced therapy for refractory ascites.
2: Describe and compare the invasive options for refractory ascites.
3: Recognize the indications and contraindications for LT.
4: Communicate to the patient the necessary process for LT and the roles of the individuals involved.
5: Recommend laboratory studies and tests required during preparation for LT.
