Description
Keith Nichols has been working on various cars and vehicles since he was 13 years old, helping his father keep the family beater in operation. He has taken that knowledge in adult life and used it to hand fabricate two complete cars from the ground up, not to mention keeping his own beaters operational. Running a small Rat Rod Fabrication shop in Tacoma Washington, he uses his mechanical knowledge everyday, designing, fabricating, and engineering solutions to every imaginable problem. "What bothers me the most is how people regard their cars these days." He says over a steaming mug of coffee. "they have forgotten how the device works, and have forgotten that it's a machine, not a sofa." This book is the condensation of that knowledge into a compact and easy to read format. "I wanted to write a book that wasn't a technical manual, but instead I wanted it to be me and the reader at a cafe talking about cars." In this book you will learn how an engine works, why it does what it does, how the vehicle moves, why its built the way it is, and how to understand the mechanical nature of the moving living room most modern vehicles have become.
