Description
Marcelle is a woman living in an era in which the social order measures a woman’s worth based upon her husband’s success; and a man measures a woman’s worth on her youth and ability to produce heirs. For each year a woman delays marriage beyond puberty, her worth diminishes – both in the eyes of men and society.
At seventeen, Marcelle is quickly moving from worth having to not worth anything. Fortunately, Marcelle doesn’t give a damn, for she is determined to turn her talents into a thriving enterprise. Unfortunately, she is also afflicted with a penchant for mischief, and antisocial behavior, which makes success difficult to achieve on her own.
Added to her already challenging life is her father’s determination to see her settle down; although his idea of a suitable mate drastically differs from hers. This results in potentially lethal quarrels, from which neither seems willing to relent – Marcelle, most of all. For Marcelle has learned a few things during her advancing years: to follow your dreams; that no one can force you do what you don’t want to, and finally – love will find you when it’s good and ready.
