Description
Dr Sam Noor, Counter-Terrorism Field Agent in British Intelligence (MI6), discovers the truth behind his wife Ellie's attack, and is very soon on a revenge drive with the British Foreign Secretary in his sights. Following a ruthless interrogation, Sam finds he is left with more questions than answers pushing him further from the truth.
With the theft of US President Treeborne's new quantum weapon taking precedence over his investigation, Sam is sent on a mission to the Zagros Mountains on the Iraq/Iran border to retrieve the weapon. Wheels however, turn quickly against him, and Sam is caught in a sinister double-cross. Trapped, in the hands of sadistic psychopath Al Douri, both Ellie and Sam learn the meaning of the word payback.
Using Ellie as emotional leverage, Sam is forced to identify the location of the Peace Summit. President Treeborne intends to use the Summit as a means to ratify Resolution 8091 'the use of extreme unreserved force' to obliterate Al Nadir completely. Al Nadir know time is ticking for them, and target the Summit, setting off the President's stolen quantum weapon with devastating effect, and in the process rewriting the rulebook on terrorism completely.
Ellie and Sam almost lose hope, but an incredible revelation enables sanctuary.
Dark and light have shifted, and new wonders and horrors are revealed. Now it rests with Ellie and Sam to live long enough to defeat the darkest force of all. A mission they must both take if mankind has any chance of survival.
Editorial Reviews
"I did enjoy it and for all of those who love scifi or want to get into scifi this is the book for you. Well written and easy to follow." Heather Austin, Kindle Book Reviews
"From the start once again Medhat had me hooked: double-crossing governments, increasingly ruthless terrorist collectives and in Sam Noor a man hell bent on revenge. The perfect recipe for a great story!" Paul Martin, Self-Publisher's Showcase
"Short chapters take the reader through The Shift's various times and settings easily, providing a rhythm of dramatic pauses and shifts. The way Medhat keeps control of so many important and vastly different characters is also admirable." Georgina Parfitt, TowerBabel
What people are saying about Connected: The Shift
"I don't normally read thrillers, however, I loved Connected: The Call and The Shift. Terrorists, nano-bombs that literally scared the pants off me, corruption in both the CIA and MI6, a very unique story line unlike any other I have read. I believe this book would make an INCREDIBLE movie. I loved the end and cannot wait to find out what happens next!" Connie Stephany, Best-Selling Author of Second Chances
"Sam Noor is mightily pissed off with his employers; the terrorist outfit Al Nadir (a group so diabolical they make ISIS look like the Teletubbies) have stolen the latest in quantum nuke technology and SOMETHING is up with Sam's lovely wife Ellie - Tune in for more spills and thrills!" Charlie Flowers, Best Selling Author of Hard Kill and other Riz Sabir Mysteries
"Exciting, surprising, fast paced. Cleverly intertwined with a sci fi part perfectly in line with the increasing belief that everything and everybody is connected."
"Characters are totally believable and you feel as though you know them personally. Not ready to give this theme up yet - more please!"
"I am not a fan of straightforward science fiction but Michelle Medhat has come up with a style which combines fiction with 'what could just possibly be fact'. Impossible to set down."
"Totally gripping. Lots of unexpected twists. Incredible story line. Well worth reading."
"Genre-defying"
"This is a very clever story that has you at the edge of your seat".
