BEST GHOST STORIES EVER... AND EVER AND EVER (The Forking Paths Series)

Includes 59 Stories.

The Forking Paths Series is a group of anthologies, each one of which is dedicated to a specific subject. By bringing together classic texts from around the world at an affordable price, we hope to make great literature available to everyone.

This is no ordinary anthology. The editor has selected the best ghost stories from around the world, ranging from Greek and Roman times to the twentieth century, but has concentrated mainly on the two writers that stand out as the masters of the form.

Both Sheridan Le Fanu and M.R. James are widely considered the greatest ghost story writers of the 19th and the 20th century, respectively. Out of the 57 tales included in this volume, 22 belong to Le Fanu, and 20 to M.R. James. The other 15 form an anthology in itself. They trace the development of the ghost story from antiquity to our times, providing the perfect background for the study of Le Fanu and James, and the tradition they helped to refine.
