Sense and Sensibility is an upbeat novel and is generally considered Jane Austen's first work, although before it was published, it ran under a different title, namely "Elinor and Marianne". It tells the story of two sisters, Elinor and Marianne Dashwood and how they get through life and experience love. The title of the book actually refers to the two sisters. Elinor Dashwood is a woman with sense. She is strong willed, rational in her way of thinking and she serves as the backbone of the family. Marianne Dashwood, on the other hand, has sensibility.
