Description
Shortly after being assigned to defend a corporate tobacco giant against a multi-billion-dollar class action lawsuit, affluent attorney Dennis Arbaugh learns he may be dying of lung cancer. Confronted with both a personal and professional crisis, Dennis must choose between a clear conscience and the comfortable life he has made for himself.
Amidst increasing marital discord and sudden, intense regrets over the selfish way in which he has lived his life, Dennis sets out for the Oregon wilderness, leaving behind all his familiar material comforts as well as his wife and career. In the solitude of a large cabin overlooking Lost Lake, he seeks to find himself anew, to make peace with his demons, and to repent, while there is yet time, for the sins of his past. But when he is unexpectedly reunited with his adult son, from whom he has been estranged for nearly seven years, his endeavor takes on whole new dimensions - and a radically new meaning.
Influenced by the works of writers as diverse as John Grisham, Ken Kesey, and Henry David Thoreau, BREATHLESS is at its heart a study of human morality, a reminder of the catharsis of solitude, and a testament to the power of atonement.
