Description
A FULL LENGTH NOVEL.
Devil's Edge, a tourist town on the coast of North Carolina, hasn't known much by way of skullduggery and murder since Blackbeard bit into his last doubloon, but the past is about to come screaming back with a hair-raising vengeance. When an aspiring ballerina waltzes into town, it's brutally clear from the onset... all the dirty little secrets buried in Devil's Edge are about to be exhumed.
Little has been told about the female pirates who left their imprints on the sea during an age of swashbuckling treachery, but among those whose feats are legend, Anne Bonny and Mary Read rise above all others. Disguised as men, these women were as ruthless as their male counterparts, often times more so.
In Part One of Devil's Edge, Anne Bonny and Mary Read are pitted against an ominous foe, a high priestess who places a voodoo curse upon the crew of The Merry Anne after the priestess suffers a great loss at the hands of the ship's captain, Calico Jack Rackham.
In Part Two of the tale, we meet a modern day aspiring ballerina who unwittingly stumbles across the chaos the curse has caused in a small town on the coast of North Carolina. Jillian Miller doesn't want to spend the summer in Devil's Edge, she'd rather remain at home to prepare for the National Dance finals, but her father has other ideas. He's taken a job with the Underwater Archaeology Branch in Wilmington, an outfit tasked with salvaging The Queen Anne's Revenge, Blackbeard's main sail. When Jillian's father ends up in handcuffs during the course of the Miller's first night in town, she rightfully assumes the best course of action is to pack up and go home. Stubborn, Mr. Miller is hell-bent on sticking it out for the sake of his job. With no other recourse, Jillian will attempt to break the curse, or die trying.
Ghosts, a lethal pie, urban legends, a cold murder case, unrelenting superstition, an intricate conspiracy, a young boy with extraordinary scientific skill, and a tipsy psychic will all collide to test Jillian Miller's resolve and her will to live.
