Description
My Dog Is A Life Coach is a collection of short essays. Most I have written, others have I have collected from texts that speak eloquently - much more than I can - of the nature of dog and his ancestor, wolf. Oh, and then there is 'Bruno', the voice of a very particular dog, urban dweller, more tramp than lady, adding a forceful commentary - from about 24 inches off the ground in his particular case - of a dog's eye view of the world we assume so easily we dominate. His contributions are, of course, marked out, like any dog's terrority, differently; and there are is head to tail life coaching, should you need any more telling.
My point is simple (and summed at the end). Dogs, if we know how to look, how to smell, how to feel, how to expand all our senses; most of all how to 'read' them, not only can be, but already are, our life coaches. And that's the way it should be. Humans need to get back to basics, back to a more natural feeling world. Frankly - and I know you know this in your heart already - we need to get down and dirty, to remind ourselves we are just a short messy step away from hubris. And, when we have grasped the essence of this philosophy, we, too, will feel the power in going down to the woods one day and having a good howl - or just accepting the joy of scent-marking our path. Oh, and having a jolly good smell and a lick, if not of our own spare parts (sadly, we aren't built that way) then of others, preferably from the same pack. Or else there'll be trouble. Barking mad trouble.
