Description
To feed the growing human population and to satisfy the insatiable quest for cheap energy, tropical rainforests across the world are being systematically burned and clearcut. The plant and animal life they hold is being driven to extinction. "Direct Action" is the story of how a small, well-organized group of people on the island of Sumatra takes up arms to stop further deforestation. With help from a trio of Western supporters, the newly created rebel army wages war against the military-backed, multinational corporations destroying their land. Their objective is to reverse the proliferation of palm oil production, logging and pulp operations, and mining interests in a desperate effort to save the last remaining acres of rainforest on their island and throughout Indonesia.
