Description
One reader was unhappy that my reviews reveal very little about the storyline of the books. HE WAS RIGHT!
And his criticism was fair. The entire purpose of this guide is to recommend books while avoiding spoilers, and I should have made that more clear here. A collection of synopses and analyses is exactly what this Guide is NOT. So I changed the title. And this description.
What is this book all about? It is essentially my raw, unsubstantiated opinions on a bunch of books. I'm not going to argue it here, but it is my experience that ALL book reviews contain unsubstantiated opinion. No matter how well the critic defends their conclusions, there can be no agreed objective measure. Even Shakespeare has his critics.
The Reader's Guide offers opinions on over five hundred well-known books, including fiction, science, religion, philosophy, poetry, and oddball stuff in-between. They were all published by 1997. If you are an active reader, you will find books you have already read. Look at those first. If we agree, then you can probably trust my advice on books you haven't read. And what's just as useful is that if we disagree, you can still trust me in the opposite: skip what I like, read what I revile. To summarize, I strongly recommend that you download and look at the free sample. If you like what I have to say, you'll like the rest of the book. If not... Don't blame me if you feel you wasted your money! I warned you!
PS, If you are looking for fancy formatting, this ain't it.
