Description
You are invited to wander around the island of the Crete in the mid-1980's to '90's with the author. These were the days when the island was just becoming tourist-minded and the perils of the trade had not yet spoiled an old culture; the culture of the stranger-friend. To also share in the delights of discovery of places and people. In the case of the places it was generally the case that due to bad maps and cheerful , friendly directions, the author hardly ever ended up where he intended to be; but, the experience was almost always better because of it. In contact with a people who discovered philosoph, theology and poets it was not surprising that the muse wove her spell with time to enjoy the beaches, sea and mountains that soar to over 8000-feet. It would be very surprising if there was not time for laughter and enjoyment, tears too in an island that has suffered so much. The stories are all real experiences, although names have been changed. Should you feel memories stir let they be good ones. If you have no memories of Crete well, as with the sea and tavernas... dive in, you will enjoy.
