About The Author
American author Clarence E. Mulford (1883 -1956) was born in Illinois and is best known for creating Hopalong Cassidy. Mulford was born in Streator He created Hopalong in 1904 while living in Maine, and the short stories and novels were adapted to radio, feature film, television, and comic books. While many of his stories depicted Cassidy and other men of the Bar-20 ranch, he also wrote other Westerns and nonfiction, mostly about the American West, the outdoors, and motoring. Mulford created an authentic world filled with characters drawn from his extensive research. He died in Portland, Maine. He set aside much of his money from his books for local charities. His novels include:
