Description
A light-hearted tale of village life as lived by the local dog population. The story centres around Patch, a serious and thoughtful small dog; the result of a holiday romance between a Bull Terrier and a King Charles Spaniel. The theme throughout is Patch's unrequited love for the beautiful Lancashire Heeler, Ankle-shredder - named by the cows she herds . She, though, is more concerned with trying to cheer up gloomy Dachdan, whose father was a Dachshund, and mother a Great Dane who would rather not be reminded of that afternoon when she fell asleep on the lawn. All dogs are able to communicate telepathically - an ability that humans have long since lost. Amongst other adventures, Patch is abducted by aliens, stars in a film, gets attacked by a werewolf, and a bear, and is responsible for the dramatic rescue of Ankle-shredder and - rather more reluctantly - his rival, Dachdan.
