Description
When the USS Missouri was tugged and pushed into the port of Astoria, Oregon in 1998, the author covered the ten-day stay for the Long Beach, WA weekly newspaper, The Chinook Observer. With the help of a Naval officer friend she was able to give his technical info as well as her personal story. Photos of the military and civilian ceremonies onboard were from those days before the huge ship was moved by huge tugboats to Hawaii for its final moorage. It was written for history buffs as well as those who are young and want to learn the history of our nation.
