Description
The end of civilization becomes the cure for one man's mid-life crisis.
Holden Lesler is the only heir to his ailing grandfather's industrial empire. He is rich beyond anybody's wildest dreams. He and his wife, Veronica, enjoy an active social life, but high society has become boring to Holden. He finds it vapid and without meaning; Holden finds his own life pointless. The only thing that brings him real pleasure are his weekends at Eadmore, his grandfather's sprawling estate, a place he wishes to abandon the city for full time.
Holden's wish is granted when something happens and people begin turning into something other than themselves. The dead don't die, and these devils, as Holden calls them, soon take over the city. Holden and his wife take refuge behind the gated and walled Eadmore with family and friends. But Holden's slice of Eden is soon threatened when the devils' numbers increase and spread to the countryside.
