Description

In January of 2017, an estimated five million people participated in women's marches across the globe. Women everywhere are finding their political voices, in large and small ways. This collection of articles highlights the influence of politically active women from a span of some seven-hundred years: monarch Joanna I of Naples, the abolitionist Liberty Women, communist and Cold War intelligence agent Juliet Poyntz, the U.S. congresswomen who came to office in 1992 (the "Year of the Women"), and ordinary citizens whose views and values are shaping legislature and policy to this day. Will these voices of the past inspire those of the future?
