The Rocky Mountain Cattleman's Association is attempting to rid Southern Colorado's open range of Rustlers, Homesteaders, and even other ranchers such as John Chisum. To do so, the Association sends their appointed Sheriff Frank Lane to Texas to form a posse of hired guns to assist him.

Famous gunfighter, Luc Milton, is recruited by an old enemy, Max Chandler, now a Range Detective for Chisum, to operate as a spy by joining Lane's posse.

Along the way, Luc helps Lane rid the range of a dangerous rustler gang. He meets some brave Homesteaders (Squatters) as he plays the dangerous role of spy.
