Description
'Juana', also known as 'Les Maranas', is a novel written by the French author Honoré de Balzac. The story goes that a long-standing tradition among generations of French courtesans is to maintain the surname Marana, until one woman decides to defy the norm. She chooses to forsake custom, give her daughter the surname of her father, and raise her within a reputable household. This is the tale of the daughter who breaks away from her mother's legacy.
