Description
Watching current events triggers a plethora of emotions. You sort through your basket of reactions and find yourself simultaneously angry, confused, disappointed, fearful, anxious, disgusted, and grieving.
How have we arrived at this point of total chaos? A global pandemic is killing by the hundreds of thousands. In America, we have never seen such lack of civility, hatred, and polarization. Protests and riots plague many of our cities. People walk our streets carrying military style assault rifles. This is not the country you have known all your life.
Local churches are often not the safe havens we expect. Strong political or health safety opinions have entered congregations causing division and dissension. Friendships have cooled or ended over strong disagreements. Debate rages like a California wildfire on freedom of religion versus public health safety concerns. This is not the church you have known all your life.
Are we reaching a tipping point? Election results will resolve little for the anger is so great and trust has evaporated. Conspiracy theories will continue to churn and multiply. If a reliable vaccine is developed for Covid19, millions will reject it and the virus will continue to infect and kill.
How do we face this "perfect storm" of pandemic, racial division, unbridled hatred, climate disasters, government corruption, and division within the Church? How can I survive? How do I engage to make a positive Impact for Christ?
"Standing Ready" was written to address those two issues: Surviving the Storm and Making an Impact for Christ.
Spiritual Warfare is raging everywhere. If one is a follower of Christ, he is equipped with supernatural weapons for this conflict. The Apostle Paul describes our "Spiritual Armor" in Ephesians 6:10-20. Knowing about --- and wearing this Armor --- is critical in this season of intense battle.
The Old Testament contains over 200 names, descriptors, and metaphors that identify and describe God. In those Names can be found additional fortification to add to your Spiritual Armor. "Linking a number of those Names of God to Articles of Spiritual Armor is the Heart of this Book."
As you note these Names of God meshed and connected to Pieces of Battle Equipment --- you will sense a titanium
covering of protection to live out your faith in these turbulent times. You will be "Doubly Covered"... fortified by both the Protection found in your Spiritual Armor and the Power found in the Names of God.
This Book is a Spiritual Manual for surviving 2020 and beyond.
