Description
A catena (Latin for chain) is a type of biblical commentary done, verse by verse, which is made up entirely of earlier Biblical commentators, in which each one introduced with the name of the author. Perhaps the most famous one is the catena aurea (golden chain) of St. Thomas Aquinas, in which he masterfully weaves together the writings of the early church fathers into a single uniform commentary on the gospels. The church fathers he cites include St. Jerome, St. John Chrysostom, St. Augustine and St. Bede and many others.
This classic text is presented in this ebook form with illustrations of the early church fathers used, and the Biblical events from the Gospel of St. Matthew Chapters 1 - 7.
