Description

The Salvation Army Year Book 2022 is a compendium capturing news and events from the 132 countries in which The Salvation Army serves.

Covering the approximate period July 2020 to June 2021, this edition of The Salvation Army Year Book contains numerous references to the Army's response around the world to the COVID-19 pandemic, including many photographs.

In the foreword, international leaders General Brian Peddle and Commissioner Rosalie Peddle (World President of Women's Ministries) write: 'COVID may have brought many things to a grinding halt, but it did not stop The Salvation Army. Already present across the world, when the pandemic struck Salvationists rolled up their sleeves and found practical ways to serve and minister, as well as reach into their pockets and bank accounts to share their financial resources as needed. International Development Services, International Health Services, Salvation Army Schools International and International Emergency Services have been working relentlessly throughout this pandemic... they exemplify service, collaboration and selflessness.

'Emerging out of the pandemic does not mean a return to life as it was before COVID appeared. We are different people. Our relationships have changed. Our methodologies have changed. Our working practices have changed. We need to capitalise on the lessons learnt through the pandemic and continue to be innovative in our missional activities. We have discovered the importance of personal relationship, seen the possibilities and effectiveness of digital ministry and longed for meaningful connections to a community of faith. We need to keep moving forward, following the leading of the Holy Spirit and embrace this new season of life and ministry.'

The General continues: 'My prayer is that this 2022 Year Book will be a means to demonstrate that The Salvation Army continues to be present in our world, continues to be committed to the preaching of the gospel, continues to be compassionate in its meeting of human need, continues to be moving forward and continues to be a force for God in our world.'
