Description

Living with his stepfather has gone from bad to worse following his mother's death.

Sandy Webb made a promise to his mother just before she died - that he would stay and help Hank Rimmer, a harsh old man.

His own dad had been a famous lawman, but his mother had married Hank and he had provided for them. Sandy knew he owed the old man, but he also knew Hank was using him.

When Hank riles Sandy beyond his tolerance, a fight breaks out... one that has devastating consequences for Sandy... and Hank.

Leaving Hank behind in a fit of rage, Sandy makes his way to Hawkville to take Jessie Springfield to the dance, and then he would leave for good. Or so he thinks.

When Hank's body is discovered by the lawmen, Sandy instantly becomes the prime suspect... the townsfolk are against him and the lawmen don't believe he is innocent.

Sandy's only hope of proving his innocence is his best friend, Billy Hovell. Together they track down the men Sandy believes murdered his stepfather, but strange things happen as they close in on the suspects.

Happenings that become clearer to Sandy... a betrayal he could never have imagined.
