Description
Spike Nolan is a loner.
His mother had worked in a cat-house before she died and his father had been a small-time crook until his neck was stretched by a vigilante's rope. Having fended for himself since he was twelve years old, Nolan is used to doing what he has to for survival.
Nolan's philosophy is simple. The world is against him and he is against everyone!
When he rides into Laurel Greek he meets Beth Gorman and her father Ben, owner of the Lazy G ranch. He immediately falls foul of the law in the bullying figure of Deputy Sheriff Al Ross, setting the seal on Nolan's fate.
In the face of the Gormans' generosity, saving him from an uncomfortable spell in jail, Nolan breaks one of his cardinal rules -- never stick your nose into another man's fight.
With an eye on the rancher's pretty daughter he becomes involved in their battle, and that mistake puts him on a downward trail with a one-way ticket to Boot Hill.
