Over the past six years, Monkeybicycle has gained a reputation for publishing only the best in upcoming and already well-known literary voices. Past contributors include Samantha Hunt (The Invention of Everything Else), Steve Almond (Candy Freak), Ryan Boudinot (The Littlest Hitler), Dan Kennedy (Loser Goes First), and many, many others. Works from past issues have twice been included in The Best American Nonrequired Reading anthologies, and works from Monkeybicycle's weekly Web site have twice been runner-up for the storySouth Million Writers Award.
Monkeybicycle6 is the second issue of the journal to be printed under the umbrella of Dzanc Books, the up-and-coming small press out of Ann Arbor, MI. With their support, Monkeybicycle has grown to become one of the most respected small literary journals out there. And plans to expand its vision are in the works.
