Dark Abyss is by far the best book I've read of late. In fact, I believe it's the best thing Kaitlyn O'Connor has ever written. With it, she has finally attained that one-level-higher that could take her from e-publishing into the mass-market realm should she decide to take that step. Dark Abyss opens with a bang -- or rather a BOOOOM! -- and doesn't let up until the final page. The plot flows smoothly from beginning to end, and the love scenes are hot and wickedly passionate. That said, this book probably isn't quite what Ms. O'Connor's fans are expecting. The relationship between Anna and "her men" is a polyandrous romance rather than a ménage, and it offers more suspense and sexual tension than her past works rather than sex itself carrying the story. Given the ending and the impending conflict she has set up between the air-breathers and mutants, it appears that this book is the first of a new series.
