Description
--------STORY: Nadia is an intensely spiritual soap opera queen who channels spirits for fun and profit. She is deeply in love with her husband, Dr. Alec Villars, a well known physicist. He hates the very idea of spirits, and is intensely anti religious. Though still very much in love, the two part company because love isn't enough. A marriage needs respect and Alec has none for Nadia and her so-called spirits. While Nadia seeks the advice of spirits for a paying audience, her husband is busy trying to solve an equation known as his theory of everything. Nadia believes that science and religion are seeking the same thing along different paths, namely an understanding of reality that rests on a spiritual foundation. Alec eventually discovers that information, an important component of his equation, fits the definition of spirit.
COMEDY??? Yes. The comedy derives from Entropy, known in religious circles as Satan. It's Satan's job to ruin everything which is not strenuously maintained. He calls himself Tidwell. His main minion is an extremely sexy seductress named Judith who attempts to divert Dr. Villars away from the truth he seeks, and away from his devoted wife. Unfortunately for Judith, every attempt to seduce Dr. Villars fails miserably, and comically, for reasons she does not understand or suspect.
INGREDIENTS: There is plenty of romance in EarthGame as well as much fun with physics. And, as the title implies, plenty of advice for EarthGame players like you and me to consider. And, just as important, laughs all along the way. Romance? Check. Comedy? Check. Science? Check. A real solution to anti gravity? Check. God on trial for allowing evil? Check. Too much for one book? Check. But what the hell, it's all in good fun.
EARTHGAME'S SUCCESS: A thousand print copies were distributed in Portland to test the waters. These were passed around and read by an estimated 10 thousand people. A fan club formed. It was the subject of a radio talk show. Three Hollywood producers made offers for film rights, including Barnett Bain (What Dreams May Come). No movie yet, but fingers remain tightly crossed. The great actor LaVar Burton agreed to direct. He told me over coffee that in his opinion, EarthGame was inspired. He said his friend Whoppi Goldberg wanted to play the part of Tidwell. How fantastic would that have been?
OTHER BOOKS: His most recent book is a play called Jimmy's Fun-Filled Near Death Experience, written originally for George Carlin at the request of a producer friend. Tragically, Carlin died before he even had a chance to read it. You can read it on Kindle. Type Jimmy's Fun-Filled Near Death Experience in Amazon's search window.
PRINT COPIES OF EARTHGAME: Sorry, new print copies of EarthGame A Player's Guide are all sold out. With the ever expanding popularity of ebooks, there seems to be little reason for a second printing.
