When I tell you my life is messy, I really mean it's a disaster.

My name is Angela Gray, and I'm in the midst of a young-life crisis.

First thing first, let's get into my family and friends.

My older sister Andrea is an alcoholic, on drugs, and she's shacking up with our dead mother's boyfriend. The worst part? I have no choice but to live with them.

My younger sister, Olivia, has abruptly left town after her high school graduation. She's tired of me, tired of Andrea, and she's found a way to escape the madness.

Tanie Howard, my lifelong bestie, is involved in criminal activities and connected to a local drug lord. I'm trying not to get dragged into her world. It's beyond dangerous. It's scary, and I don't need that kind of drama.

My other friend, sweet Stephanie, is simply trying to get away from her crazy man.

As for my problems. Well, let me begin with my job. I hate it, but it pays the bills. I've been dodging an ex-boyfriend who treated me like crap and continues to do so when he's in town. I'm broke, living in squalor, and have no idea how to make my life better. I feel stuck. I am stuck. One thing I'm certain of though is that I just want to be in love and to be loved.

I do find light in the darkness. His name is Alex, and he's a dream come true. He is a fine, good-looking guy. He is sweet, and he's the son of one of the wealthiest families in town. I'm hoping that our love will withstand all obstacles set against us, and that I will be loved like I've always wanted. I don't think that's too much to wish for.

But knowing my luck, the road to happiness will be riddled with obstacles, complications, and truths I'm unwilling to accept.
