Description
This booklet does not pretend to be a full acount of the Cold War. It consists of two lectures,
The first one explains what the Cold War was about; and it turns out to have been about many things, which is why it was so widespread, so long, and so destructive.
The second lecture explains how and why it suddenly ended, in the late 1980s.
George Harris has taught, studied and examined History for four decades. He writes these lectures with the ambitious exam candidate in mind - someone who wants more than the basic text books but who lacks the time to read full length monographs. As a result they are also excellent introductions for adults who gave up History at school but who want to refresh their knowledge. They are the right length for a long commute.
