Jess discovers that Sheriff Sam Davies has been murdered in Wichita. While on the hunt for the four men who murdered Davies, he ends up helping the new and unexperienced Sheriff Pickens deal with the lawlessness that has come to Wichita in the form of a brewing fight between two ranchers.
