Description
Hans and his sister Gretel have a rough life. With a father whose memory and reason was lost in an accident they live a poor but honorable life in Holland. They and their Mother struggle daily to make ends meet. Hans and Gretel long to participate in December's great ice-skating race on the canal. They have little chance of doing well on their handmade wooden skates but Hans is saving up to buy steel ones. When there is a chance to pay for a Doctor to cure his father's illness Hans chooses to sacrifice his hard earned wages.
