Description
Sports are made up of tension-filled experiences. The best ones are not when you are competing against a team or individual that you know you can beat. The best experiences are the ones that you know you are not supposed to win, but somehow you performed above your abilities and succeeded. Our tennis coach let us play against players that were better than us so that we could raise our performances. The wider the gap was between the abilities, the greater the tension. This tension is also called the "zone" and happens when things come seamlessly together with close to flawless execution in sports. In life when faith in God and obedience aligns seamlessly, the Christian finds himself in the "God-zone".
The "God-zone" is an amazingly tension-filled experience that is way above your abilities. It is not an experience that is comfortable and that can be accomplished by your own abilities. When a player competes against better opponents in the "zone" everything goes right. Players do things that they could not normally do. They perform above their abilities. In life God calls us to live above our abilities in the zone as Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego did in Daniel 3.
"Playing in the God Zone" sports devotionals calls participants of sports and life to play and live in the God-zone. It is written for those who play in sports and in life. We ask the question: "What would sports look like if we competed in the God-zone? What would life look like if we lived in the God-zone?" Some of these questions are asked in this book, and allows you to discover with God what the answers are during your specific season of life.
