Description
In a brave new world of terrorism the potential for destruction within a free society is unimaginable. Islamist terrorists bring 'Shock and Awe' to the heart of England through a campaign of murder and mayhem. They destroy the infrastructure of the country and ruthlessly assassinate its defenders and hierarchy.
Ahmed Alawan is the leader of a cell of Islamic terrorist fanatics with revenge in mind. Each member of the cell has a personal reason to hate the coalition forces. They take their attack to the streets of Britain in retaliation for the coalition attacks on Iraq and Afghanistan.
An original and ingenious method of smuggling arms into Britain involves the unwitting help of a local fisherman. Tommy Slater, struggling in the present economic climate, is persuaded to help and is murdered when his actions are brought to the attention of the police.
The targets which the terrorists select are vulnerable and impossible to defend. The chosen methods of attack are often absurdly simple. The cutting edge technology of the British forces is rendered useless by the use of the less sophisticated techniques. The body count rises, and the skills which the terrorists developed in their war against the coalition in Afghanistan are put to use against the armed forces, the police and politicians on their home ground.
Simon Thompson was a bomb disposal officer in Afghanistan. Wounded and convalescing in England, Simon twice thwarts the efforts of Ahmed.
After that it becomes personal.
With the odds stacked against him, the story builds to a gripping climax where his life and that of the woman he loves are threatened.
