Description
The classics of Chinese warfare have been studied in other cultures near and far. Among them, the thirteen chapter manual of strategy known as Sun Tzu's Art of War remains the most famous and widely read even to the present day.
This perennial classic of strategy was introduced to Western Europe in the latter 1700's, half a century before the composition of the widely studied work On War by the Prussian Carl von Clausewitz. Now known around the world and adapted by analogy to strategic thought in many fields of endeavor, Sun Tzu's Art of War has been translated into numerous modern languages. The present translation is based on the oldest known text, rediscovered in modern times.
