This is where it began, "The Rebirth of my Soul." I walked through fire and lived to tell about it. Only that was just the tip of the iceberg. My entire life changed. I survived yes, but the pain of it all appeared to be unbearable. The journey back to health became intertwined with the road to defining and reconstructing my individuality. Once reborn, the true test came, life itself...
In the memoir of "The Rebirth of my Soul," Series Author Aija M. Butler shared the trials and tribulations of healing and recovery. During this journey, she realized that sharing her stories of rehabilitation after her illness, helped to inspire and motivate others. Soon, the Rebirth series, encompassed all walks of recovery, in "Life Honestly after, Born Again the Resurrection" Aija touches on the many ups and downs of rehabilitation, life after... the death of a loved one, illness, divorce, abuse, the list goes on.
In the development of The Journey, with partner Lj. Thomas this grassroots organization partnered with Alissa Jones and her project Survivors with Voices, together they have developed not only a voice but a resounding roar, in inviting women to share their voices of healing, survival, and restoration. This is the first of many journeys. Welcome, to 12 women sharing stories of remarkable recovery, survival, and redemption. From domestic abuse, loss of a child, to victims of violent crimes and substance abuse, read and be encouraged.
ABOUT THE FOUNDATION:
S.W.V, Survivors with Voices Foundation, provides support, mentorship and counseling via survivor to survivor. We help women overcome the seen and unseen scars that come with an abusive and/or present. Women that are abused encounter many issues with social development and self-esteem. Many carry the weight of abuse upon their shoulders and often blame themselves for the abusive acts made upon them. We provide an open forum for women to voice their trials and survival from abuse. The abuse of women takes many forms. We look to help, motivate, and inspire one another to overcome, forgive, and heal. S.W.V., provides continuous supportive services for its members. We strive on the notion that, we may be used and abused; but we are not all used up.
