Alzheimer's is a disease that affects the whole family and the decisions that are made for a loved one. Our family became just another statistic with a mother who has begun the journey into the depths of this disease. We did not know much about this disease and it became a learning experience for everyone. Having support and information has helped us to make our decisions as to what is best for our mother.

I have documented our journey in a very short, easy to read, 5,000 word format that may help others when they begin their journey with a loved one. This is the 1st part of a series of writings that I will put together as we watch our mother's memory slip away. This particular one provides you the signs and decisions that we made as a family while she was still living alone.

Future writings will continue the journey as she moves on to an Assisted Living Facility and further movement to Nursing Care.
