Description
Erin Lawrence's life was over. Once the wife and nurse of a famous Hollywood cosmetic surgeon and on the brink of a reality show that would propel them to stardom, she lost everything after killing an entire family while texting and driving. Her husband divorced her, her family disowned her, and she was sentenced to four years in prison. Having served her time, she now finds herself working as a nurse in a rural county health clinic in eastern Kentucky, deep in the Appalachian region. Living in a tiny apartment with her pregnant sister, Ashleigh, she is still dealing with her feelings of guilt and self-loathing. Dr. Jack McNeill, doctor for Laurel Ridge and the surrounding area, dislikes her on sight and every day feels like an extension of her sentence. Despite her lack of experience in rural health care, she finds that the people of Laurel Ridge hold no ill-will against her in spite of her very public crime. Their kindness and welcoming manner help her believe that she might have a chance at happiness again. As she begins to understand the tough and blunt nature of Jack, she realizes that his gruff personality is merely a cover for the deep sense of responsibility he feels for the people of his hometown. Desperate for human affection, she becomes involved with Jack's best friend, Trey and finds a friendship with Jack's long-time girlfriend, Dawn. Teen pregnancy, drug use, and poverty are rampant, but Erin and Jack share a purpose and a passion to save the town. Their dedication for the people of the county connects them on an emotional level and they both struggle with their growing feelings for each other. Ashleigh, homebound and fragile, serves as her sounding board and confidante as Erin tries to come to terms with her desire for Jack. Tragedies and secrets threaten Erin's new life, but she is determined to learn how to forgive herself and be worthy of the love that Jack is intent of sharing with her. Rich with the culture and flavor of the Appalachian region, "Lost and Found in Laurel Ridge" is a story of redemption and learning to love again.
