A horrific car crash that left him in a coma for over a month became the beginning of an awakening. David awoke to learn of his tragic story and the long road to recovery ahead. With therapy he learned how to walk, talk, eat and write again and used writing to cope with the emotional stress he endured. Channeling his pain into carefully written word combinations to form rhyming poems that offer inspiration, wisdom and powerful emotional expressions. After sustaining burns to 48%-55% of his body including his face, he grappled with the emotional stress of everyday life now as a person with a disfigurement.

HIS STYLE: David's poems are rhythmic and structured in a way that rhymes and flows naturally. By taking his time crafting every line into a melodic masterpiece, his work has often been considered lyrical. He sculpts each sentence by counting syllables and shapes his pain on to pages to form paragraphs. He uses commas and refines every segment of his rhymes to ensure that the reader reads the poem in the same general tempo and manner as he intended.
