Bethany Carlisle has been summoned home to Texas, along with her two estranged sisters, Tracy & Jennifer, to settle the significant estate of their abusive father, Jonas. After raising his family in poverty & turmoil in the dilapidated embarrassment that he had the nerve to call a 'bed & breakfast', Jonas had somehow turned it all around after the death of his wife and the departure of his daughters. Cozy Cabins, now better known as The Sea View Resort, is considered to be one of the top 10 resorts in the country. And it is worth a fortune; a fortune the Carlisle sisters are about to inherit now that Jonas has died.
Unfortunately, it's not that simple. Rather than simply selling each of their stakes and returning to their own lives like all three of the sisters would like to do, Jonas had just one stipulation in his will: to receive their fair share, the sisters had to remain at The Sea View and play an active role in its day to day management. Failure to do so would result in the forfeit of their portion of the inheritance; an inheritance worth tens of millions of dollars.
So, rather than heading back to each of their own lives with a fat check and a fading memory of what was once their lives, the sisters are thrown together in an endeavor for which none of them is sufficiently qualified. Luckily, they have Jonas's old partner, Greyson Merrick, to help run the business and teach them what it takes to run a top-notch, luxury resort. Only Greyson, who was led to believe by his unscrupulous (and now deceased) partner that he was in line to inherit the resort, is not so keen on sharing the wealth.
It's not that he doesn't have enough wealth and power of his own already. Greyson Merrick has plenty of both. But he helped grow The Sea View from the beginning and it's only fair that it pass into his hands. So, needless to say, he's reluctant to help the Carlisle sisters steal his legacy from him.
But when the youngest sister, Bethany, decides that a private, face-to-face meeting between she & Greyson is in order and shows up at his penthouse apartment unannounced to explore their options, things quickly escalate. During their discussion, Greyson unexpectedly takes control of the situation and surprises Bethany with a passionate kiss. She considers stopping him, aware that their relationship should remain a professional one, but cannot bring herself to do so. There's just something about this man that makes her want... more. And when things start going wrong at The Sea View and a note demanding $5 million arrives at the main office, Bethany finds that it's nice to have someone on whom she can depend.
Between the memories that returning home has stirred up, the stress of dealing with her sisters & the attraction that is quickly growing between she & Greyson as they work to protect The Sea View from its saboteur, Bethany is overwhelmed. But Greyson may be exactly who and what she needs to get through her difficult time. It's an Unlikely Love that seems to have shown up at exactly the right time in her life and she'd be crazy if she didn't at least give it a chance!
