Description
Suppose you had a fully armed and cloaked Klingon bird of prey. What would you do with it? Meet Dane Corey, a former Starfleet captain highly decorated for bravery at the Battle of Thos, now drummed out of the service in disgrace after striking his superior officer. Now a gambler on his way to distant Ganymede for reasons unknown, his only possessions include a blaster pistol, a mysterious letter in his tunic, and a wicked starship he won gambling. Written in the famously popular dime novel form, in just the first four short episodes follow his fight for ownership of the Orion Queen, a fully equipped B'rel class scout ship outfitted for smuggling, and with Dane's first mystery being to solve who is murdering all aboard one by one, and with Dane himself next on the killer's list. Follow as he next obtains a hapless crew of misfits that range from a wickedly beautiful, but deadly Borian She Devil bent on stealing the ship for herself, to a Ferengi boy practicing the Rules of Acquisition who learned his weapons officer position from a video game, to that unscrupulous, sniveling coward, Professor Smith, who seeks to undermine Dane's every command for self-gain, to Barney Stiles, his own former chief engineer at the Battle of Thos, who may be incompetent. Watch Dane match wits with criminal masterminds, his own unreliable crew, a hired gunman sent to kill him with links to Starfleet, and listen as Dane sits in a brig under murder charges and his arresting Starfleet officer curiously plays back his court martial trial. Something's afoot here and it's definitely outside the box. Find out what happens when Captain Corey commands the finest ship with the worst crew in the entire galaxy and with Starfleet right behind.
