Her stilettos clacked against the ground but she couldn't take them off -- the streets of Manhattan weren't welcoming.
Then again, she had just witnessed a murder and was pretty sure she'd been seen.
Scratch that, she knew she'd been seen.
Why had she been looking across her office at that empty building?
Actually, why had she stayed in late working on a Friday night?
Well, that question was easy to answer: she had a limited social life and was a workaholic.
April continued running until she reached a bar that she knew had a side exit. She could feel the set of eyes following her, and moved to the alternative door.
But instead of exiting, she ducked into a closet, heard heavy footsteps rush past her, and held her breath as she texted Randy.
