Description

With a murderer hot on her heels, becoming the greatest treasure in a bored aristocrat's collection may be Jemima's only hope of survival.

When bluestocking archeologist Jemima Percy discovers her father's lifeless body on Christmas Eve, and the ancient script they'd been working to decipher missing, she quickly realizes she is the killer's next target.

Fleeing for her life, Jemima seeks refuge amidst a group of traveling Christmas minstrels, but her safety is short-lived. Desperate to escape her would-be murderer, Jemima becomes the mistress of Lord Deveril, a jealous collector of antiquities.

Miles, the dashing new Lord Ruthcot, has inherited his late brother's estate, antiquities collection, and a mysterious letter charging him with a quest to save a damsel in distress whose father was murdered for an ancient script that the older Lord Ruthcot had been seeking.

Intrigued by the challenge but unsure how to proceed, Miles finds himself distracted by the alluring new mistress of Lord Deveril. Exercising his considerable charm, he is determined to persuade her to abandon his rival and become his own consort.

As another Christmas Eve approaches, Jemima must navigate a treacherous web of secrets and lies, risking everything to evade her possessive paramour and reclaim the stolen script.

With danger closing in, will Miles unravel the truth in time to become the hero Jemima needs, or will he lose the woman who has captured his heart forever?

The Bluestocking and the Rake, book 2 in the Hearts in Hiding series, is a gripping second-chances Regency romance featuring a heroine who is stronger than she knows, and a rake who is far more heroic than he ever realized. Happily-ever-after guaranteed.
