Description
Mankind had spread throughout interstellar space, and in their wake followed a vibrant system of inter-galactic commerce... Planets specialising in producing commodities best suited to their own specific environments.
But back on Golgar, where the centre of galactic power still rested, a strong ruling class called the Norios had taken over control and was ruthlessly dominating the peaceful planets, forcing them into submission by the threat of Poly Nitro... an explosive deadlier and more potent than the most powerful hydrogen bomb.
As they expanded their sphere of influence, one of their Space-ships landed on an un-named planet, identified by its location III relevant to the star Alpha Proxima.
This planet had an unusually high fertility soil with a moist atmosphere, which vigorously promoted plant growth, and many plants were bred and crossbred with ease by the agronomists and other specialists.
Alpha Proxima III had just reached the stage of exporting many of their exotic fruits and new medicines to other planets in their galaxy, and had become a worthy target for take-over by the Galnos.
Faced with the ultimatum of surrender or total destruction, Axstar, their chief Councillor, agreed to build a special space-field for the Golgar fleet, due in four days.
During that time Axstar and his colleague Jaro, with the aid of two female technicians, Laura and Avis, from the Biosynthesis Institute, work on several plant mutations to plants and fruits, the growth being stepped up enormously by using mesotron beams.
Four cruisers from the Golgar fleet land, and the Galactic New Order becomes a bitter reality. The Proximarians, however, with the help of a hypnotic plant they have developed, the "Dragon Lily", and the "Alcoholic Melon", developed by a visiting scientist, are able to overcome the Golgar Commander and some of his staff, but during the affray Axstar is captured and imprisoned in one of the space-field hangars.
Jaro manages to get inside the heavily guarded hangar on the pretext of negotiating terms with the Golgar authorities, and while there he sprayed a specially designed Lichen Plant spray over all metal parts.
The Lichen Spray was developed by Lim, a Golgar-born Proximarian for the Ultra-Rapid corrosion of any metal.
Lim has also perfected an offensive weapon by adapting a mesotron beam which will explode the atomite fuel and Poly-Nitro, the latest and deadliest explosive ever made.
The Proximarians are reluctant to use the weapon on any-one, even their enemies, the Norio's, but Lim wipes the fleet out of existence on his own cognisance, but is killed himself in the process.
