Description
Two homicide detectives from the Washington D.C. Metro Police Department follow the dark and twisted trail of the Highway Slayer, a brutal and sadistic killer of young girls.
Detective Jim Strongbow, Washington DC Homicide Squad, was getting angry with this little twerp. "Well, what can you tell me, Doc? He asked, not trying to conceal his building frustration.
Doctor Resseman smiled smugly. "My best guess, she was beaten to death with a whip or something like a whip, maybe even a wire, before her head was cut off." He folded the sheet back, revealing the rest of Susanna's naked body. Her upper torso and thighs were crisscrossed with open cuts and welts. "See what I mean? Just look at them. I'd say there are over two hundred whip marks, and I don't think anybody could live through that."
Jim shook his head. "Damn! I've never seen anything like this. Although the girl's body was covered with whip marks, her head was unscathed and had been washed. "Was she raped?"
"Well, like I said, I'm not the Coroner... A full report won't be ready until later today or tomorrow."
"Tomorrow?" Strongbow slowly shook his head. It seemed like he was always waiting for additional information, but he knew one thing. The brutally murdered girl on the stainless steel table wouldn't be the last one.
