Would you sacrifice yourself to save a stranger?

Ralael is a Hybrid -- a half-elf. He was raised to be a warrior so he could join the Hybrids' struggle against annihilation. He fought tooth and nail to defend of his people, and knows there is no hope for them if things don't change. But his first attempts to save Hybrids end in tragedy and he slays an elf in self-defence. A blood debt now hangs over his head.

One of the witnesses of the murder is Naal -- the daughter of the elven king. She knows she's being sent away from the kingdom by her father, but no one is willing to protect her. So when the king -- impressed by the Ralael's skill -- offers him a pardon if he escorts her to safety, she knows the poor Hybrid is stuck with her. She doesn't mind. He keeps talking about the dangers they'll face on their journey, but she's sure he's exaggerating.

Ralael would do anything for his people. But is someone's life worth the chance of living to fight another day?
