A happy nobody, Monk is charged with finding a missing woman wanted in a grisly killing. Upper management tells him he's got this, but fools and dead men convince him that may not be the case. Falling in love along the way, and a longing to heal old wounds add to his problems as he searches for the missing woman, and others for him. A nasty beating only heightens his desire to find the woman before the people lurking in the shadows decide to put an end to her, and to him.
