This special volume 'Four Stories For Savage To Saint' makes these tales and fables available in their own right. 'The Rose of Shiraz' was originally written as the conclusion to the Winnetou trilogy, giving an account of Old Shatterhand's sad journey through May's fictional Wild West after Winnetou's death; at the same time, it made the connection to Kara Ben Nemsi's oriental adventures.
