Description
Dora flinched as something rubbed against her leg. It was the St. Bernard. He was sniffing at the old widow through the fence.
''Now look here, ma'am, I'm sorry for what happened to your husband and son, but I don't feel like any more of this weird business of yours. Good day.'' Total cuckoo-bird. Just as she was about to turn away, the old woman reached over and grabbed her arm, her grip cold as ice. ''Fucking let go of me!'' The dog jumped up on the fence and started barking. ''Let go right now!''
''Be quiet, you stupid girl-''
She landed a punch on the woman's bony face, but it wasn't enough to free her. The widow was attempting to literally drag her over the fence, cackling and puffing as she did.
When Dora, a young art major, answers an ad for an au pair in the paper, she expects a trip to the Alps and some respite in the calm, strange little town of Graufirst, but it won't be long before she realizes her stroke of good fortune is far from the blessing it appears to be. Graufirst hides dark secrets behind its façade, and if Dora doesn't find a way out soon, she never will.
